Export from ChatGPT
In ChatGPT go to Settings → Data controls → Export data. OpenAI emails you a ZIP within a few minutes.

Drop the whole ZIP or just the conversations.json file inside it.

One .md file per conversation, named by title and date, ready for Obsidian, Notion or Git.

Is my export uploaded?

No. Parsing runs entirely in your browser. Your conversations never leave your device.

What is preserved?

Conversation title, create date, and every user and assistant message in order. Code blocks stay as fenced Markdown. Images and file attachments are skipped.

Does this work with Claude or Gemini exports?

This tool is tuned for OpenAI's ChatGPT export format. Claude and Gemini exports use different structures - separate tools coming soon.
